WEARING THE LOST GENERATION: a musical & sartorial salon
Part of the Gertrude’s Paris Festival at Symphony Space, this special salon event on APRIL 5, 2012, will be a place to experience eclectic fashion and music in an intimate, social environment. The Nouveau Classical Project will perform Ravel’s Piano Trio in A minor’ and the World Premiere of ‘Lost Generation,’ an electronic-acoustic work by Trevor Gureckis. The composer was awarded a 2011 fund Commission by the American Composers Forum to compose this piece. http://youtu.be/LFMg66ZWCjU
The musicians will wear fashion by quirky milliner and designer Heidi Lee during the performance. Lee will draw inspiration for her designs from both the Ravel Trio and Gureckis’s newly commissioned work. Composer Trevor Gureckis will give a post-concert talk and describe his inspiration and artistic process for Lost Generation. Gureckis will also engage in a conversation with designer Heidi Lee and Laura Kaminsky, the Artistic Director of Symphony Space, discussing the relationship between music and fashion.

Following the event will be a one-hour reception at Bar Thalia, with complimentary cocktails sponsored by St-Germain Liqueur located inside Symphony Space, where the audience will be invited to mingle with the artists.
